Course:
This three-day
review course, sponsored for the past 11 years by Consultants in Nuclear
Medicine, is dual purpose: it provides practicing NMTs the opportunity
to earn a maximum of 24 hours of CE Credit approved by the VOICE Program
of the Society of Nuclear Medicine; in addition, this comprehensive
review of Nuclear Medicine Physics and Radiopharmacy is designed to help
prepare NMT Students for the NMTCB and ARRT Exams.
Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to, the following:
Physics of Nuclear Medicine; Radiopharmacy and Generators; Isotope
Production; Quality Control of Radiopharmaceuticals, Dose Calibrators,
and Imaging Equipment; Regulatory Issues in the Hot Lab; Cell Labeling
Procedures; In Vivo Non-imaging Procedures; Principles of
Radiation Detection; PET and SPECT; Radionuclide Therapy; Basic
Statistics; and Clinical Utility of Radiopharmaceuticals. Lectures will
be presented in concentrated form using detailed printed handouts for
each topic, accompanied by extensive audiovisual materials. Questions
are welcomed at any time and the last 2 hours of the course will be
devoted to Problem Solving
Course Objectives:
Preparation for upcoming NMTCB and ARRT Examinations; Provision of 24
hours of CE for practicing Nuclear Medicine Technologists; Comprehensive
review of Radiopharmacy and Nuclear Medicine Physics; Improvement of
Problem Solving skills; Implementation of Quality Control Procedures in
the Hot Lab; overview of Radiation Safety
Continuing Education:
Approved by the VOICE Program of the Society of Nuclear Medicine for 24
hours of CE Credit. VOICE Credit is recognized by the USNRC and all
State Departments of Nuclear Safety.

The schedule for the 24-hour course is

All lecture topics are related to Radiopharmacy,
Nuclear Medicine Physics, and other Basic Science topics of Nuclear
Medicine. Because you will be attending 2½ days of an 8-day course
attended by other technologists and physicians, the schedule is
different than in the original version of the course. You will receive
your course certificate before you depart at 1:00 PM on the third day of
the course. Please note that all CE Credits have been approved by the
VOICE Program of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and therefore accepted
by all credentialing agencies.

TUITION
FEE:
$300 for the 3-day course. Fee must accompany the attached application
form or must be paid by on-line registration (see registration methods
below). Included in tuition fee are breakfast, all coffee breaks,
handouts, and course materials. There is a $25 fee for cancellation
requests, which must be in writing. No refunds are available after
course begins. Enrollment is limited- please register early.

A block of rooms has been reserved at
the beautiful Marriott Hotel, 1401 W 22nd St, Oak Brook, IL 60523. The 2010 room rate: $117 per night,
single or double, for a small suite (regular rate: $259/night).

weeks before the course, and then released for public sale. Parking is

Marriott Oak Brook
AIR TRAVEL:
It is most
convenient to fly into either O'Hare International Airport or Midway
Airport, each of which is about 20 miles from the hotel. In either case,
when you have your luggage, simply call American Taxi at 847/255-9614
and give the dispatcher your location. Their driver will pick you up
within 5-10 minutes. Flat rate fare to the hotel is approximately $40
from O’Hare International Airport or Midway Airport and may be shared
with other riders going to the same hotel. There is a charge of $2 for
each additional passenger.
