Imaging tumors with somatostatin
receptor sites may be accomplished following an IV injection of a
radiolabeled polypeptide chemically analogous to somatostatin. This
compound (Octreotide or Octreoscan) binds to somatostatin receptor sites
in a wide variety of tumors.

Intense kidney uptake; small percent
uptake in tumor; excretion through kidneys
